Preliminary Task

PRELIMINARY TASK

My Preliminary Task

What is a Preliminary Task?

A Preliminary Task is a one to two minute long clip; showing a conversation between two people. The task has to include shot-reverse-shot and has to have continuity.

POSITIVE FEEDBACKS/WHAT I DID WELL:

1). "Shot-reverse-shot has been used in the Preliminary Task"

2). "A range of camera shots has been used e.g. Establishing shot at the beginning of the Task, Two/Group shot at 2:06 and long shot at 0:56"

3). "The way you got the Preliminary Task started (intro) was very good-you showed how the student entered the building and then knocked on the class door; it helps the audience establish the fact that it is located in a school or work environment"

4). "Most of the filming looks professional such as the editing e.g. from 0:16 to 0:18; there are uses of two different shots; it changes from the student approaching the class door, to then a second shot; showing the student knocking at the door from the inside of the classroom view"

NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS/IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE:

1). "Most of the shot-reverse-shot are too long
e.g. from 0:29-0:39, the camera stays still, focusing on the teacher for too long, instead of just shifting over and moving on to focusing on the student (should have been done a lot quicker)"

2). "This task is suppose to be focusing on two people having a conversation- two other people (who sitting in the back of the room) have also been filmed"
3)."The conversation could have been more interesting e.g. a police interrogation (about a murder or kidnapping)"
4)."At 0:20-0:21-the camera shakes and does not move still or steady (use of unprofessional camera movement)"
